Yesturday, May 16th, marked my 3-year anniversary as an AUNT!!! 3 years ago, Mary Jo was taken out of the HORRIBLE foster home she was living in an placed with my sister. Now they have started the adoption process and SOON she will OFFICIALLY be a GINTY!!!
When MJ first came to live with us she was 5 almost 6 and she was soooo different than she is now. She had spent most of her days unloved and locked in her room, so it was AMAZING to watch this little personality being unlocked inside of her.
When she first came to live with us and she still called my sister, Theresa, not mom yet, I would play this game with her. I would say, "Mary Jo you are soooo PRETTY!!! How did you get to be so PRETTY?" And she would ALWAYS respond with, "Because Theresa made me pretty!"
So after a couple of weeks of playing this game I asked her one time, BUT what did Theresa do that made you pretty?" Without hesitating MJ says...
"Because,
she made me HAPPY!"
"Happiness is like jam, you can't spread even a little without getting some on yourself!"
