Breaking bones=Saving Lives!

I was recently in a CPR and First Aide training class for my job, as I already said in my post The Purpose Of A Seatbelt (read it HERE) and there was something else that I learned in this class that I MUST share with you all. I learned, that while giving a person CPR, you have to give them air compressions that are two inches deep. Now this may not seem like that big of a deal when you just hear me say that buuuuut its pressing down TWO WHOLE INCHES. Take your hand right now, place it on your heart and press down. What do you feel??? I don't know about you all, buuuuut I feel BONES!!!

Our teacher told us that when giving these chest compressions your going to break bones. He went on to tell us that its going to feel WEIRD, buuuut if your NOT hearing strange noises, like crunching, your NOT doing it right. You've GOT TO BREAK THEIR BONES. Weeeeeeelllll you all shoulda seen the look on my face. I was sitting there with my mouth hanging open. I mean, i'm the person that hit my lil brother when we were kids cuz he was annoying me and felt so bad I started crying more than him! So I raised my hand and was like I have NEVER heard this before in CPR...I just can NOT imagine actually BREAKING SOMEONES BONES!!!

The teacher was like, well if your doing it right, its most likely going to happen. Your pressing TWO INCHES deep one someone, its GOING to break their chest bones. He's like if you’re NOT breaking bones you’re NOT doing it right. Don't feel bad about breaking their bones, you’re SAVING their life. He said bones can be fixed BUUUUUT you can't fix DEAD!!!(unless you’re God!)

I was FLOORED by his words but as soon as he said that to me my mind started whirling and I actually did get caught writing this devotional in class! :) Buuuut I just couldn't help but corelate this to how God works in our own life. "For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth." (Hebrews 12:6) To scourge someone means to whip or inflict pain on someone. Sometimes God HAS TO BREAK US!!!

Sometimes our spiritual life is in so much turmoil, we're literally about to spiritually die and God steps in on the scene and says i've GOT to give this one spiritual CPR. I hate to see them suffering, I hate to see their sorrow, I hate to see their pain, but i've got to inflict on them. I've got break them so I can save them. Sometimes this pain is inflicted on us through the circumstances of life, through our sin, through the preached word of God or even through the correction of the man of God.

"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." (2 Corinthians 7:10)

.

Repentance HURTS, buuuut repentance SAVES us. I can just imagine God compressing down on us with his love, inflicting that pain on us, so desperately trying to save our soul. And I can imagine God looking and seeing the pain and sorrow and it hurts him to see that he had to do this to one of his children, but he's thinking its better to BREAK their spirit then for them to spiritually die and spend their eternity in torment. I can always heal thier brokeness, buuuuuuut if they go to HELL, which IS spiritual DEATH, its FOREVER!!! "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." (Psalm 34:18)

It would be BETTER for us to spend a lifetime of sorrow and tears on this earth and MAKE it to heaven, then to never shed a tear, living a happy, carefree life and END UP IN HELL!!! We've got to be able to say to God, like the song says, WHATEVER you have to do to me, DON'T LET ME be lost for eternity, for above all else, I MUST BE SAVED!!! The crushing, the crunching, the breaking sound of a heart,  the strange noise of a soul weeping in sorrow from their anguish and hurt. Its NOT God being mean, its not God punishing you, YES, I do believe that there are consequences for sin, but the scourging you feel on your heart is ultimately the LOVE of God SAVING YOU FROM HELL!!!

EVEN IN MY DREAMS!!!

Sooooooooo the other day I'm having this dream, that my sister and I are at Dillard's, shopping at one of their big sales. Well my sister goes to pay for her $2 item and the cashier says to my sister, "that'll be $6!" And my sister says, well it's marked $2  and the lady says, well yeeeesss, buuuuut we're adding on an automatic $3 fee for the big sale today.

.

Soooooooooo my sister is like, well that makes NO SENSE Forget it I dont want it! And the lady says, it's too late, you can't leave the store without paying the $3 fee, plus the other two for the product EVEN if you don't want it now because someone else COULD'VE already bought it by now. 

.

Soooooooooo they're arguing back and forth, the cashier is suggesting she just pay the $6 DOLLARS, the place is packed out with crazy shoppers, (Btw: I wasn't buying anything, sooooo it REALLY WAS a dream!!!;) Sooooooooooo just as security was about to be called on my sister, I wake up...

.

Annnnnnnnnnd the first thing I think is WAIT, $2 plus $3 isn't $6, IT'S FIIIIIIIIIIVVVVEEE DOLLARS!!!!Then I was liiiiiiiike OMW....

Brond Moment!!!

QUITE A FEW YEARS AGO NOW...

 I was on the phone with one of my friends and she was like telling me about how she thinks that it really neat when people have brown hair and blue eyes. She is like you know it's just such a nice combination and you dont see it very often. She is like, I mean usually if people have brown hair they have brown eyes and if they have blue eyes they have blond hair. And she is just going and on about how unique it is to see that combination....

and I am like uh huh, uh huh, I know what you mean. But in my head I am thinking; Ok, like, who does she EVEN know that has brown hair and blue eyes? I don't think I even know anyone with that combination!!!! So I am like talking to her again and I am like, yeah, I mean like, I have blue eyes but my hair is...hmmm...what color hair do I have...hmmm...OH HEEEEEEEEY, I have brown hair!!! Annnnnnd liiiiiike, my eyes are blue... OMW!!! I have brown hair and blue eyes!!!

Aint that just like THE LORD!!!

I woke one morning last week and the first thought that went through my head was, it was THE ROMANS the actually crucified Jesus!!! And my next thought was, and the Romans were ITALIANS!!! i was like omw it was THE ITALIANS THAT ACTUALLY NAILED JESUS TO THE CROSS!!!

I was just standing there in my room like, we were the ones, under the order of the Jews, that ACTUALLY CRUCIFIED JESUS!!!! I’m always bragging about being Italian, buuuuuuuut were the ones that killed Him!!! I was just standing there in shock of my heritage!!!

.

Buuuuuut then my next thought was, AND YET, 

the Italians were STILL the ONES!!! 

We were still the among the first gentiles, the gift of the Holy Ghost came too!!! AIN’t THAT JUST LIKE THE LORD??? Only God would do something like that!!! To go first to the ones that took His life and say, i have a gift for you, I want give you life everlasting!!!

It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, if you will repent and turn from your sin, Jesus WILL FORGIVE YOU!!! When you think you’ve done more than he can forgive, remember the Italians nailed Him to across and He STILL gave the Holy Ghost first!!!! Not much, just got my Dutch Bros before Defensive driving school 🏫 starts!!! 🙄 (yup i’m back… i caused a 3-car accident… no one is hurt…basically fender benders-i’ll explain in another post!!!)

He’s like, oh is that like with the DMV to get your drivers license?!? 🪪 i’m thinking BRUH?!? i’m at the drive-thru window, in the drivers seat talking to you, i’m LITERALLY driving right now!!!! i was like uh noooooooo it’s to remove a ticket off my record so my insurance doesn’t go up even more after causing a 3-car accident!!!! he was like, Ooooh, liiiiike, WHOOOOAH!!!

My favorite MODEST online shops!!!

Soooooooo this is basically just a repost from last summer but there's a bunch of  new shops added in towards the end!!! Also, I'm aware of the fact that some of these aren't actually Apostolic modest, they just have pretty dresses that you will have to figure out HW to make modest!!! Don't be like casting stones and give me the side eye-I'm AWARE her dresses aren't modest!!! BUUUUUUUT there's a $300 one that if ANYONE would like to buy me, I'll take!! I personally think it would make a great ENGAGEMENT DRESS!!!

Heeeeeeeeeeyyyy I just thought I'd share with you all some of MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE online, modest clothing sights, ASIDE from the MOST POPULAR DAINTY JEWELL'S!!!(Who charges $5 extra for anyone bigger than a size LARGE! 🙄i mean i can see charging more for the REALLY BIG SIZES LIKE MY 4x, buuuuut seriously XL girls??? and why isn’t it $5 cheaper for the xtra-small girls??? Despite the annoyance of the matter- i still have 3 velvet dresses i really want! lol gonna rock extra $5!!!;)

 Origninally these were listed in the order I shop at the most, buuuuuuut let's be honest- I've discovered SHEIN and that's mostly where I go now!!!  Annnnnnd quite a few of these sites are owned by home mission pastor wives or just in general a church, SOOOOO by shopping at their store, GIRL MATH SAYS, YOUR ACTUALLY HELPING SUPPORT THE WORK OF GOD!!!! ;) And you can't OUTGIVE THE LORD, soooooo by shopping at pastor's wives shops IT'S BASICALLY FREE!! Heeeeeeeeeeyyyyy!!!!

Pastor wife shops will put a ** by, and Pentecostal shops I will put a * soooo you know that your SUPPORTING AND GIVING TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD and our fellow SISTAS IN THE LORD, WHEN YOU SHOP THERE!!! Some of these shops are NOT Pentecostal like us, BUT they are promoting modesty, no pants, dresses and skirts!!!  The first five are my main stomping grounds and absolute faves!!!!

1.The King's Daughter-* This sight is PROBALBEY my most favorite and i've shopped her THE MOST!!! I think partially because this sista has a REALLY GREAT CONCEPT of posting 1-2 new things, EVERYDAY!!! Soooooo it's kinda like you check daily to see what new stuff she has!!!! Now, I don't buy something new EVERYDAY, buuuuut it's FUN checking what she has and it's VERY ADDICTING!!! Buuuuut I figure it's better to be addicted to THE KING'S DAUGHTER than to Burger King!!! BAHAHAHHAAAAAA!!!!

2.Zadie B's**- I LOOOOOOVE HER CLOTHES!!! They look soooo fancy buuuuut the best part is that they are soooooooo COMFY!!! LIIIIIIIKE you look like a MILLION AND ONE BUCKS buuuuuut you feel like your wearing your night gown!!! And they're that material that can get wet but don't judge me but sometimes I wear stuff to hike or swim in because it's THAT MATERIAL buuuuut would be soooooooooo much more expensive IF it was an actual "swim" dress!!! I'm also REALLY excited because we're doing a LPC Church trip to Branson in August and all the ladies going are doing a ladies SHOPPING DAY and we're going to THE ACTUAL ZADIE B's store there in Branson!!! I'm liiiiiiiike maybe they'll give me a DISCOUNT for talking about them on my blog!!! ;))) I also want the Zadie B's brother that always answers the phone when I call about returns, to know that, THAT WAS NOT ME THAT BELCHED that one time I was talking to you!!! I was at the Library and I had to walk outside because apparently I talk to loud and as I was walking out, THIS RANDOM MAN let out THE LOUDEST BURP EVERRR...buuuuuut that was NOT ME!!!! Just feel the need to clarify that before I walk into the store!!! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!! And I welcome a discount for promoting you IF you feel led by the Lord to do so...no pressure...jus sayin!!!! ;)

3.Beautifully Modest- shop here a lot and they do a lot of great dresses, they wear dresses buuuuut are not Pentecostal but lots of great clothes and they're addicting because they model the clothes so you can see how they actually look on a REAL human!!! Also, their custom pieces on here are MADE by a Pentecostal lady! I just knew it, they have a "Pentecostal Look" to them!!! Sooooo I went and found her shop on Etsy, which ill list below as well!!!

4.Dressed Like An Angel**- This shop is owned by younger Sister Garrett's mom who is a pastor's wife in a really small town in Louisiana I believe. I forget her mom's name, but when her dad was singing at Antioch I thought, OoooooooH, that's Brother Dress-Like-An-Angel !!!! I heard that she has an actual really big clothing store in her city in Louisiana, so IF YOUR there go on in and shop live...I mean I don't know that i'll ever be there, don't judge me, buuuuuuuuut I'm NOT really into small towns, sooooooooo IF I were to go there it would probably be 1 of 2 reasons, TO GO SHOPPING  OR because I heard there was really handsome single man in their church, buuuuuuut then again everyone would KNOW that's WHY I had gone since I just announced it on my blog so I probably wouldn't actually go for the man, buuuuut I'm jus sayin, that's THE ONLY TWO reasons i'd be there!!!

I've gotten a lot of my beautiful skirt extenders from her but remember that lace is SEE THROUGH so you have to ask her to make sure it's not see through because she's NOT looking out for it to be particularly modest, just pretty!!! However, she will make it modest IF YOU ASK her too!!! She takes custom orders as well!!! 

3. Skirt Extenders*- This lady is Pentecostal and I've gotten quite a few skirt extenders here! She does an awesome job and will let you pick they length you want and the waist inches if she doesn't have your exact size. 

4.Beautiful Custom Tunics-* Okay sooooo IDK Y buuuuut I look really bad in tunics, they just don't hang right on me without me having a prego look!!! Buuuuut this lady makes THE MOST gorgous, Apostolic looking pieces so I just wanna promote her to y0ou all that look good in them!!! She is sooooooooooo talented!!!!

Apostolic Jr. Camp 2024!!!

Apostolic Jr. Camp 2024!!!

It's ALWAYS a bigger adventure when you bring Sunday School kids- THANKFUL TO NOT BE A COUNSELOR THOUGH!!! I've been a counselor twice in my life and i'm GOOOOOD!!!And noooooooooo i do NOT feel guilty saying that- I AM A COUNSELOR, pretty much EVERY SUNDAY OF MY LIFE!!! Van pick up, teach Sunday School, watch them during Church Service, a million bathroom breaks and THEN drop off- all in AZ SUMMER WEATHER!!! I FEEL NO GUILT bringing them to camp and letting someone else get up to go to that bathroom with them in the middle of the night!!! NONE!!! LOL

Time to start picking up kids for camp!!! 

These two FINALLY started coming to church in i think April maybe, we'd been asking them and they kept saying no but I would give them brownies when I went to visit other kids and finally Janae said she would come IF I MADE HER BROWNIE!!! Apparently i make THE BEST BOXED BROWNIES AROUND!!! Jamar did NEED to take a month off from church after Jr. Camp buuuuuuut he was back this Sunday!!!! LOL

All ready to head up to camp- MY SISTER BRAVELY said yes to driving the van-I'm NOT allowed to- NO CLUE WHYYYYY!!!!

Happy Man-Crush Monday!!!

I don’t know how many friends I’ve sent my brother’s funeral announcement to that are like, WOW, your brother is really handsome!!! I’m like, yes, YES!!! Buuuuuuut what do you expect, he’s related to ME!!!! 😘😇

Even at 450 the ladies would gush over him!!! He was like an old lady magnet!!! At his wedding 💒 one older lady told me that if she was 10 years younger this would’ve been HER WEDDING DAY!!! I was liiiiiike, UH, try 40ish years younger!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😇

1. What's my favorite thing about myself?

My personality!!!

I really, truly, just LOVE, love, LOOOOOVE, being ME!!!

2. What's my least favorite thing about myself? Ummmm... Idk...maybe being scatter-brained! Getting lost in my imagination...like crying over a non existent death...lol...over thinking stuff!!! 

3. What's my favorite physical feature? My eyes or smile or my hair- Ok pick one, MY EYES! 

4. What's my least favorite physical feature? Probably my teeth

5. What stresses me out the most? People's emotions...I'm a very happy-fun-loving-easy-going kind of person. But I'm also a pretty empathetic person so I tend to take on what others are feeling- If someone has bad self-esteem I want to change that because it bothers me so much that they would feel bad about themselves or like if someone is sad or depressed or in a bad mood it makes my emotions all uh emotional...if that makes sense!!! LOL Buuuuut only if it's someone that I'm really close too!!! Otherwise I really don't get stressed to much...kinda weird that people's stress, stresses me! LOL  

6. Am I introvert or extrovert? I am ambiviant! That means I'm both! I love people and am outgoing, buuuut I also enjoy being by myself, I never really get lonely and actually need to get away and just be with me sometimes too. I mean, that's how writers are...we kinda got be in our own little world...Hee, hee!!!

7. What's my least favorite school subject? Math!!!

8. What's my biggest weakness? SHOPPING...If you consider that a BAD THING...otherwise...it could be a STRENGTH!!! ;))))

9. What is my talent? Writing!!! and Probably storytelling and speaking...which  are actually all forms of writing, they just come forth in different ways!

10. How do I show someone that I love them? Hmmm either through gifts or spending time with them! No probably by spending time! Quality time! IF I want to hang out with you instead of myself, I probably love you!!! Hee, hee!!!!

11. Is it a bigger deal for me to say I love you or for me to say I miss you? I Miss you!!! you see, I'm a very loving person, and I could just about tell anyone that I love them, and truly mean it...I DO!!! Buuuuuut I don't like to say anything that's NOT true, like fake sayings, sooooooo to say I miss you to someone, I mean, I could love you buuuuuuut, that doesn't mean I actually mind being away from you, buuuuut IF I miss you, well, that means I ACTUALLY MISS being with you...make sense??? Buuuuuut I can't just go around continuously telling everyone male or female that I love them AHAHAHA!!! It's not always appropriate to say I love you, yet, I can't say the more acceptable thing UNLESS I actually feel it...otherwise I'd be lying!!! LOL 

12. Do I make my bed in the morning? YES!!! I really do!!!! 99.9% of the time I make my bed!!!

13. Is my car clean? Depends...buuuut I keep it cleaner that I used too!!!

14. My first word was? FLOWER (According to my mom, I don't actually remember!!!;)

15. What are my two favorite scents? Roses and orange blossoms

Hey John!!! (What i read at his funeral)

Hey John!!! It's me, Mary, Mar Bear, you know, you’re older, BUT less mature big sister!!!

For the first 6 years of my life, I was the baby of the family and then you came a long and made me a big sister. One of my happiest moments as a child was when mom told us she was having a baby and that baby was you! Even though I was the big sister, it's like you were somehow never notified on the matter, as soon as you could fend for yourself, you started bossing me around and telling me what to do.

 

I loved being a big sister and holding a little baby brother in my arms. I remember feeding you spaghetti in the highchair and sitting in between you and Abraham in the car and being in charge of holding your bottles in your mouths and talking to you guys so you wouldn't cry. You and Abe couldn't say Mary, so you two would call me Mammy! 

One of the nicest things I ever did for you as a toddler was when mom said you couldn't have the nacho tortilla chips because they were too sharp, and you would choke on them. You were so sad; you were crying because you wanted chips so badly.  So being the GOOD BIG SISTER that I am, I sacrificially chewed them up for you, but instead of swallowing them, I fed them to you all chewed up. You were so happy you got your chips, you even said thank you to me for doing that. Although as an adult you weren't thankful for my sacrifice when I told you about it, I want you to know, YOUR WELCOME!!! 

We have so many fun memories from when you were in the hospital at 16, the afro wig when you lost your hair and the "Noise" machine the youth group ran around the hospital with you entertaining ourselves for hours. Chocolate donut runs in the hospital cafeteria and the time you were craving toast, but no one was in the grill, so I just walked behind the counter and found you a loaf of bread and toasted you the whole loaf! I would do ANYTHING to try and make you laugh, including dancing with you in the hospital room at 1 am!!! When you got released from the hospital, we had become very close and from that time, for the next 6 years, till you got married, you would text me, "Goodnight, I love you!" 

.

There was only one time in my life that I remember you embracing my shopping ways and that was when you were dating Liz and I was THE CHAPERONE!!! You randomly started going to the mall and then you would give me some money so i could go look around and buy myself something...You THOUGHT you had gotten rid of me, BUUUUUUT you underestimated just HOW QUICKELY your sister can blow through $50!!! I was back with multiple shopping bags within the hour. 

.

As adults, I think the thing we did the most together was cook. We loved cooking together, and also competing in the kitchen together over who was the better cook. There was only one time you felt bad about your food being chosen over mine and that was when the guy i liked wouldn't eat my dessert because he only had room for your cheesecake. Your only fault in the kitchen was sometimes being too cheap to buy butter instead of margarine. 

It's because of me that you became SO good at making pizza. I remember you made pizza one year for mom's birthday and I told you it was ok buuuuuut to be honest, I don't think pizza is really YOUR THING, stick to cheesecake. When I said those words it's like you said, "challenge accepted" and you proceeded to develop the best New York Style Pizza ever, ensuring to your big sister that CHEESECAKE AND PIZZA were both YOUR THING!!!!

One thing about you John is that even though you bossed me around like a big brother, you also took care of me like a big brother would too. When I had a broken heart, you hugged me and told me you just wanted me to be my happy self again. You were my protector, I remember you tackling the cute cowboy at rawhide when he dared to put his arm around your sister. You super-glued my heart shaped sunglasses back together even though you hated them, just because you loved me.  Any time I needed help on my car you were there. You told me I should just come to you for my oil change instead of Jiffy Lube. I remember after you were released from the hospital in 2021, you came home and the very next day fixed my car against the doctor's orders. 

.

 Even though I was your big sister, you never told me to grow up or act my age. You just laughed at my crazy antics or just shook your head over my latest Mary Moment. You always loved me, for ME, and bossed me around while doing it!!!

.

When you became a dad, I went to the hospital and you held your little miracle baby Bethany in your arms and said, "look what the Lord has done." 

Giving you the bone marrow transplant in 2021 is honestly one of the coolest things I've ever done. People would say that’s so nice of you to do for your brother and I’d be liiiiike this is  nothing, the real sacrifice is the chips I chewed up for him when he was a toddler, seriously, as a little 8-year-old chubby, you have NO IDEA just how hard it was for me to NOT swallow those chips, buuuuuuut I loved my little brother, so I gave, truly that was the biggest sacrifice of my life!!!! 

After the transplant, You loved that we shared the same DNA. You loved joking about having 100% female DNA, but keeping your he/him pronouns. We loved joking together that we were the same person now. I loved telling you that there had been a really big improvement on your cooking after the transplant! I was so happy when I came to Justin's baptism, and we were both randomly wearing blue together without planning it! It's like THE DNA was in sync with each other, I felt like wearing blue, SO BLUE WE WORE. 

In February, after your surgery with the gallbladder and you were finally on the mend and release from the hospital was in sight, we sat in the room together, You, Lizzy and I, and we planned my 40th birthday trip. I was like, well I was thinking since you're getting better, we could all take a family trip to San Diego and spend the day on the beach together. You were completely on board and began to help me make plans, even though you wouldn't be able to be in the sun for very long. You even found a beach we could go to that had a playground on it for the kids when they tired of the water.

.

However, things did not go as we had planned. When I walked into that hospital room and saw you, I knew the Leukemia had completely taken over, and the transplant I gave you had failed. I was so sad and disappointed; it was like it meant our jokes and our DNA connection was over too.  I confirmed with your nurse, the transplant had failed. 

However, she said your DNA was still mine, we still shared that no matter what. Our connection was still intact. Part of me was still in you and knowing even in death, we still shared that brought me joy. Because when you entered into heaven, part of me entered into heaven too.  

For my birthday, we planned a trip with sunshine, sandy shores, blue water and rippling waves, but God had a far greater trip planned for us, instead we got a city where there is no need of the of the ocean or sandy seashore, and no need of sunshine, because the glory of God is the light in this city, we got heaven.

.

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

.

Now, along with sharing the same DNA, we share the same birthday. My earthly birthday and your heavenly birthday. Every July 18th I’ll be partying in heaven and on earth! You know me John, anything for a little extra partying! 

Even though our hearts are breaking, you have reached what we are all striving for. I'm sad for us, but John, I'm so happy for you. I'm NOT missing heaven for anything John. There's no hurt, no offense, no relationship, no heartache, no disappointment, no earthly achievement, that's keeping me from heaven. 

For now, I'll keep things going down here in the kitchen without you. Don't worry, I'll do as much of the cooking traditions with your kids and Liz and the family as possible, and I'm sure it won't be long before Tony picks up where his daddy left off and starts bossing Aunt Mary around in the kitchen. 

Well you know I can keep going on and on and on, but I guess I'll stop talking so you can get back to cooking for the angels up there. BUT don't get to use to being the best cook in heaven, one of these days I'll BE JOINING YOU THERE, and when I do, the competition is BACK ON bro!!! 

John, I love and miss you so much!!!
