This year, my sister and I just decided to do stocking stuffers for each other and we're using the money we would normally use to buy gifts for each other, to buy tickets for our next trip.

Sooooooooo i have to admit, that even in my 40's I STILL sneak around to try and find where my sister hid my Christmas Present...

 EVERY YEAR!!!

BUUUUUUUUUUUUT let me share you from a Christmas a few years back...

I know, I know, soooooooo childish...buuuuuut I will do this at age 100...no matter what you say, LEAVE ME UNSUPERVISED, annnnnnnd I will be searching!!! And YET, I still DO NOT wanna be TOLD what I'm getting and want to be surprised...Or at least PRETEND to be surprised...I know, I know....SOOOOOO IMMATURE....buuuuuut at this point, I don't think it's everrrr gonna change!!! Hee, hee!!! ;)

Soooooooooo one year, AS USUAL, I THOUGHT I pretty much KNEW EVERYTHING my sister had gotten me, clothes, hiking shoes, etc...all the normal things I always want, and I pretended to be surprised for everything as usual...lol...I'm opening a little box, not really paying attention, talking to everyone as I go and I look down to actually see what I'm opening and realize...

I was seriously soooo FLOORED!!!😲😵

My other fitbit had broken, and I HAD mentioned that I was going to wait til after Christmas to get a new one but never thought she was going to get it for me!!! I was liiiiiiiike, I OMW,  I had absolutely NO IDEA you were getting me this!!!  I was liiiiiiiiike, I NEVERRRRR even saw it in your closet when I was looking!!!

She's like, thats because I hid it in a spot I KNEW you would NEVER look!!! I'm like, WHERE??? She smiles and says, THE IRONING BOARD!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! I was like, WOOOOOOWWWW!!!! Buuuuuuuut...VERRRRRY GOOD HIDING SPOT!!! Hee, hee!!!😇

Okaaaaaaaaay yeah everyone, I DO NOT IRON MY CLOTHES and i don't care what anyone thinks!!! Ok, ok, occasionally, if I really, really, really love something enough and it really needs to be ironed AND i forgot to bring it to the dry cleaners, I will iron, buuuuuuuut for the most part, I just don't!!! So far I have ONE GREEN DRESS that I actually love enough that I will iron it buuuuuut other than that, it ain't happening!!!

If any guy has on his list of things he wants in a wife that she needs to be willing to iron his clothes, you can just cross ME OFF your list!!! BAHAHAAA! I heard one lady once say, girls, IF YOU LOVE YOUR HUSBAND you'll iron his clothes!!! i'm liiiiike, Okaaaaaaaaaay, I'm WILLING, buuuuuuuuuuut IF HE LOVES likes in any way HIS CLOTHES, he will NOT ask ME to iron them!!!! Jus sayin!!! *Mary at age 20: Mom do you think we can fix this blouse? Mary, you MELTED the material!!! What about if i wear a shirt underneath and wear my hair down??? Mom: Next time, BRING IT TO THE DRY CLEANERS!!!

Soooooo my sister said she had it on the ironing board under some clothes in her room and she asked me before she left the house if I was going to iron my outfit for church and I just looked at her like she was CRAZY, and very obnoxiously said, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! She said she just thought to herself, well, 

IT'S SAFE!!! AHAHAHAHAAA!!!

1. What's my favorite thing about myself?

My personality!!!

I really, truly, just LOVE, love, LOOOOOVE, being ME!!!

2. What's my least favorite thing about myself? Ummmm... Idk...maybe being scatter-brained! Getting lost in my imagination...like crying over a non existent death...lol...over thinking stuff!!! 

3. What's my favorite physical feature? My eyes or smile or my hair- Ok pick one, MY EYES! 

4. What's my least favorite physical feature? Probably my teeth

5. What stresses me out the most? People's emotions...I'm a very happy-fun-loving-easy-going kind of person. But I'm also a pretty empathetic person so I tend to take on what others are feeling- If someone has bad self-esteem I want to change that because it bothers me so much that they would feel bad about themselves or like if someone is sad or depressed or in a bad mood it makes my emotions all uh emotional...if that makes sense!!! LOL Buuuuut only if it's someone that I'm really close too!!! Otherwise I really don't get stressed to much...kinda weird that people's stress, stresses me! LOL  

6. Am I introvert or extrovert? I am ambiviant! That means I'm both! I love people and am outgoing, buuuut I also enjoy being by myself, I never really get lonely and actually need to get away and just be with me sometimes too. I mean, that's how writers are...we kinda got be in our own little world...Hee, hee!!!

7. What's my least favorite school subject? Math!!!

8. What's my biggest weakness? SHOPPING...If you consider that a BAD THING...otherwise...it could be a STRENGTH!!! ;))))

9. What is my talent? Writing!!! and Probably storytelling and speaking...which  are actually all forms of writing, they just come forth in different ways!

10. How do I show someone that I love them? Hmmm either through gifts or spending time with them! No probably by spending time! Quality time! IF I want to hang out with you instead of myself, I probably love you!!! Hee, hee!!!!

Is it a bigger deal for me to say I love you or for me to say I miss you? I Miss you!!! you see, I'm a very loving person, and I could just about tell anyone that I love them, and truly mean it...I DO!!! Buuuuuut I don't like to say anything that's NOT true, like fake sayings, sooooooo to say I miss you to someone, I mean, I could love you buuuuuuut, that doesn't mean I actually mind being away from you, buuuuut IF I miss you, well, that means I ACTUALLY MISS being with you...make sense??? Buuuuuut I can't just go around continuously telling everyone male or female that I love them AHAHAHA!!! It's not always appropriate to say I love you, yet, I can't say the more acceptable thing UNLESS I actually feel it...otherwise I'd be lying!!! LOL 

12. Do I make my bed in the morning? YES!!! I really do!!!! 99.9% of the time I make my bed!!!

13. Is my car clean? Depends...buuuut I keep it cleaner that I used too!!!

Oooooooo that's a REALLY TOUGH ONE!!! I mean, EVERY GIRL WANTS TO BE TOLD SHE IS BEAUTIFUL RIGHT?????? Buuuuuuuuuut After thinking really long and hard about this I THIIIIIIIIIINK I have to say MY COOKING!!!

WHY???

Because my looks are really NOT an accomplishment of mine and I really don't have a WHOLE LOT to do with them, BUUUUUUUUUUT cooking is something that I have worked hard on and when I cook I put my heart into it so if you compliment my cooking your complimenting an achievement of mine where as my looks are just whatever they are and I had NOTHING to do with it!!!

And liiiiiiiiiiiike you guys have NO IDEA how sad I am inside when my food doesn't get eaten!!! Liiiiiiiike it's like stomping a little on my heart!!! It's pretty much the same equivalent to a guy I like, choosing another girl over me!!! When people eat SOMEONE ELSE'S DESSERT OVER MINE, I might not show it, buuuuuuuuuuut INSIDE MY HEART IS SOOOOOOOOO DISAPOINTED!!!! And I ALWAYS NOTICE WHO IS EATING MY DESSERT...ALWAAAAAAAAAAYZ!!!! ;)

Plus, if I want to know if I look good, I can always just take a selfie OR look in the mirror!!!! Soooooooooooo yeah, between the two, I want to be complimented on my cooking MORE than MY LOOKS!!!

A Mary Fact!!!

Fact: One compliment changed my life!!!

True story people!!! Once upon a time, in the end of 2007, before the birth of Classic Mary Moments had taken place, there was a broken-hearted Mary that had lost her merrieness MARYness!!! I had stopped writing! I didn't laugh, I hardly brushed my hair and lets be real, this may seem hard to believe, buuuuuuuut, I had started dressing like a FRUMP!!!

.

One day, a really good looking young man paid me a simple compliment. It wasn't flirty or outlandish, it was just a simple but sincere compliment that turned me around. I stood taller and began to make big changes in my life to live up to the compliment...annnnnd yeah...

.

I "Fell in love" with the guy for a while too...ahem...maybe a few years...buuuuuuut...heeeeeeyyyy...I really needed that compliment at that time.

.

That guy, whom I thought was sooooooooo handsome, had the power to use his words to build me up or tear me down...or FURTHER down then I already felt at that time in my life!!! Sometimes we're scared to compliment someone because think they may get the wrong idea, buuuuuut you know what, I say its better to build someone up and they get the wrong idea, then to snub someone without reason and bring them down.

.

After that compliment, I went home from that conference with a new mindset. I was going to start dressing cutesy again! I was going to do my hair everyday and every church service no matter what. It didn't matter if there were or weren't any single guys at my church, I was still going to look good. ANNNNNND that year I started writing again. 

.

By the end of 2008, Classic Mary Moments had started and The Mary we all know and love, 

                YES, including Mary...hee, hee, was reborn!!! 

So you see my friends, we all have power with our words. We have the power to build up or tear down! 

.

Now do I think that none of all that would have happened IF that guy had NOT paid me a compliment??? NAH!!! I mean, I'm still Mary and God is STILL GOD!!! I'm sure eventually I would have gotten out of my slump and God would have used some other situation or person buuuuuuut heeeeeey WHY not be the good-looking-tool God uses to build someone up????

So my brother, Abie Baby was preaching at church one evening, and in his message he was talking about Job, as he was preaching and he was talking about how his one friend just stared at him 7 days before he even said anything to him, annnnnnnnnd as he was telling this story, I was suddenly struck by an inspiration FROM GOD, yes, I said, from God!!! ;)

What it's like being ME!!!

I looked up on Pinterest things that describe my PERSONALITY TYPE and found some VERY ACCURATE memes!!! AHAHA!!! ENFP are my letters, Champion Idealists, I think WHY would anyone want a DIFFERENT personality, I literally think that its PART of my personality, to LOVE MY PERSONALITY!!! AND YET, I'm glad we are VERY RARE annnnd only make up 4% of the population!!!

Already used!!!

Soooooooo one year, right before Christmas Sunday, I decided that I really, really, needed to get my eye brows done! I was like thinking in my head, I should probably wait til my next paycheck, buuuuuuuut that's after Sunday, annnnnnnnd I really want good eye brows for Sunday!!!

Soooooooooo I pull up to European wax center, and as I'm walking in, I double check on my bank app that I have sufficient funds in my back account, I have MORE THAN ENOUGH, sooooooo I go in and proceed with getting AMAZING EYEBROWS!!! 

.

Once I'm done, I go to pay and my debit card is declined like 10 times!!! I'm liiiiiike WHAAAAT??? Liiiiiiike I LITERALLY JUST CHECKED MY ACCOUNT!!!! I'm like freaking out!!! What do they do to people that don't have the funds to pay for their eye brow job that has ALREADY BEEN DONE???

LIKE OMW!!! It's four days before Christmas AND I'M GOING TO JAIL!!!

ALL BECAUSE I NEEDED GOOD EYE BROWS!!!! 

Buuuuuuuut heeeeeey at least i'll look good for that mug shot!!! ;)

Soooooo I don't know what to do, I'm actually wondering if they allow prisoners to take SELFIES for their mug shots, when the lady at the desk says, well you do have a $65 gift certificate in your account, would you like to use some of it towards your eye brows today? 

I was like, I DO???

She was like, yes ma'aam! I'm liiiiike, WELL SURE!!! I mean I have NO IDEA HOW I GOT SUCH A LARGE CERTIFICATE IN MY ACCOUNT!!! Buuuuuuuuuuuuut honestly, I don't even care!! I don't at all question this blessing, i just take this as a sign that CLEARLY GOD DID INDEED want me to have good eye brows for church on Sunday!!!

FAST FORWARD TO CHRISTMAS...

Soooooo I'm opening all my gifts and one of my gifts from my sister is a gift certificate to European Wax Center, i'm liiiiiiike OH COOL!!!! I can ALWAYS use one of these!!! She's like, yeah, they started doing a facial now and I thought you would like to do that, so I made it large enough to get your eye brows and the facial together! (She knows I'm super into skin care!) Then she says, and you don't even need to save that gift card, because they ALREADY put it in your account when I bought it the other day!!!

I was liiiiiiiike...Oooooooh...Sooooooooooooo THAT'S HOW I HAD A CERTIFICATE IN MY ACCOUNT WHEN I WAS THERE THE OTHER DAY!!!! She's like, Oh soooooo you already knew about it?! I'm liiiiiiiike, weeeeeeeeeeellll...FUNNY you should mention that, you see, I got my eyebrows done on Saturday, and RIGHT BEFORE I walked in, I checked my bank account and I PROMISE YOU I had sufficient funds in my account to get my eyebrows done, buuuuuuuut apparently, while I was getting my eyebrows done, and UNEXPECTED charge went through my bank account and I no longer had the money to pay for my eye brows! I was really freaking out because I didn't know how I was going to pay for it when the lady said I had a gift certificate in my account that I could use to pay for them....SO I DID!!!

The Walker Family!!! (repost from December 2020)

(I wanted post and repost as many memories with Bishop!)

Sooooooooo about a month or so ago, my pastor was telling the church about a message is dad used to teach to the church about a family called The Walker Family!!! (Representing all the people that continually get up and walk around, going in and out of the sanctuary during the service!) He said his dad would talk about this family whenever people started getting up so much during the service for every little thing that it was becoming a distraction during the preaching...he then proceeded, like his father, to tell us basically that he noticed lately that The Walker family was back at church and to basically keep the movement and getting around to the minimum! (Of course if your child is screaming bloody murder or throwing up, please take them out! LOL) 

.

As a 3-4 year old child, I VERY MUCH remember Bishop Abbott preaching about this family! That night, a group of us went out to eat for Stultz's birthday, and Bishop Abbott and Bishop Sister Abbott, (That's what we call Elder sister Abbott...I think it sounds better than Elder Sister Abbott, cuz elder sounds old! Or as Odin calls her, The OTHER ABBOTT! LOL)

.

Soooooo we're all sitting there eating, and Bishop and Bishop Sister Bishop Abbott and I was like, SOOOOOOOO about THE WALKER FAMILY, I don't know if anyone else was listening, buuuuuuuuuuut I KNOW MY MOM was!!! I KNOW BECAUSE I peed my pants after TWO OF THE TIMES The Walker Family was preached about because my mom wouldn't let me go to the bathroom during the service when I said I HAAAAAAAAAAAD TO GO!!!

.

The Abbotts started laughing so hard...I was like, and remember how the church off of Highland in Scottsdale, you had to walk across the front of the church to get to the bathroom! They're like, YES!!! And we all started laughing again!!! You just have to know my mom...thinking, you can wait Mary, just hold it....she was sooooo determined to do the right thing...

*For Example: Liiiiiike, don't get up during the service, UNLESS you really are going to pee your pants!!! OR, Always stop at the stop sign, UNLESS it means that the car behind you is going to crash into you!!!! (If you hear screeching brakes and your thinking, NO way she's actually going to hit me, MOST LIKELY, SHE IS!!! Jus sayin! ;) annnnnnd yeeeeeesss there IS story of someone you may know…oooops

If your opening a can of hominy OR any can for that matter....ANNNNNNND...your very cute Pioneer Woman can opener FAILS YOU and does NOT fully open...do NOT I repeat, DO. NOT. use your muscles to finish opening the can... because ...

THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU...

Thats AFTER it stopped bleeding and to be honest it looks better in the pictures than in reality...I couldn't angle my finger to get it all in buuuuuuuut it sliced about half a inch in and half a inch down and then the outside slice is about an inch and a half in a frown type of line...if you wanna see a video of it just text or email me....ahahahahahahahahaaaa!!!

Annnnnnnnnd there was A LOT of blood EVERYWHERE!!!

To be honest I was REALLY FREAKED out when it happened and I was all by myself and I thought am I supposed to like call 911 now??? buuuuuuuuuuut even though I was scared, I also did NOT wanna pay the medical bill...sooooooooo the only thing I remember from my first aide class was to APPLY PRESSURE to the wound....

Then while I did that I sought medical council from my nurse friends.and anyone else that was interested in my plight!!!! I also googled what to do and after about 2.5 hours it DID stop bleeding!!!!

Then when my nephew got home, I decided to FREAK HIM out since the cut looks like a mouth and was still opening I made it talk to him...Yeah he screamed...it was kinda paindful to do buuuuuuuuuut soooooo worth his reaction...ahahahahahaaa...Then I went to Walgreens, bought medical tape and peroxide and got to work on myself and it's healing QUITE NICELY!!!

I think i'm going to have a REALLY EPIC looking scar too!!!! I showed it to EVERYONE at church last night too!!! I was liiiiiiiiiike, I think its going to look like my finger is SAD all the time...

I like, weeeeeeeeeeellllll....I wanted to see WHAT I LOOK LIKE ON THE INSIDE!!!!

Cuz ya know...THEY SAY it's MORE IMPORTANT to be beautiful on the THE INSIDE than the outside!!!! AHAHAHAAA!!! In case you guys are wondering,  I'm NOT VERY BEAUTIFUL ON THE INSIDE!!!! Things were looking pretty UGLY!!!!

Soooooo I was telling my sister, you know what I really like about Blossom??? (My new car)

I loooooooove that she is BRIGHT ORANGE!!! Even though I would have preferred HOT PINK, i loooooooove that she is BRIGHT and colorful!!! I told my sister, I LOVE THE FACT that when Blossom and I arrive somewhere, EVERYONE KNOWS!!!

Where's my Skirt????

Sooooooooo a few Sundays ago, I'm getting ready for church and I have everything all laid out, nice and organized, my room is like, SOOOOOO CLEAN, and I'm just like listening to my Audible story like, OK, it's TIME to get read for CHURCH!!!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeelllll I have everything ready buuuuuuuuuuut I CAN NOT FIND MY BLACK SKIRT...liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike anywhere!!! I'm liiiiiike WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!! It was right here!!! I had all ready!!!! How could I lose it that quickly and WHERE did it go???

I'm looking around my room frantically trying to find it and can't see where it could possibly have gone, I mean my room was soooo clean!!! There were no piles of clothes or a mess anywhere!!! Well I just start tearing stuff apart in a desperate attempt to fine my black skirt! I dump out my hamper, tear through the closet, pull out shoes, boots, blankets all kinds of stuff and STILL IT'S NO WHERE!!!

Finally, 

I look down and AHA, I SEE THE SKIRT...

IT's ON ME!!!!

I could NOT find my skirt any where, BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY PUT IT ON!!! 

True story folks...I GOT THE MESSY ROOM TO PROVE IT!!!

They remind me of someone...

Soooooooooooo I go to the weight loss center I go to, to get back on track with weight loss, the owner like loves me and will give me like free products basically just cuz I'm Mary and she loves talking to me and well cuz everyone, almost everyone, loves me!!! LOL

Weeeeeelllll I go in one day and the owner isn't there and I'm greeted by this older grandmotherly type lady in a nurses uniform. She opens my file, reads my name and is like, OMG, SOOOOOO YOUR MARY!!! My daughter has told me sooooooo much about you...I'm HER MOM!!!! (The owner's)

She's like, WOW, your really are SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!! Oh just look at you, she says, all your little things, your hair ribbons, your just too cuuuute!!! OMG! On and on...She's just like GUSHING OVER ME!!!! Then she ACTUALLY takes my face in her hands and is just like, YOU ARE JUST ADORABLE!!!

I mean, I LOOOOOVED the compliments, buuuuuuut I left that place liiiiike, OKAAAAAY this lady is JUST CRAZY!!!! And YET, despite me thinking she's kinda quirky, I thought there was SOMEONE she reminded me of, that was ALSO KINDA WEIRD, buuuuuuut yet despite their quirkyness, I feel a FONDNESS towards them!!! I'm just  driving home like, hmmmmmm

LATER ON...

I'm at home and I see my nephew and MAAAAAAAANNNN...I JUST LOOOOOOOVE THAT KID!!!! I just start hugging and kissing him and telling him he is juuuuuuust soooooooooooo cuuuuuuuuuuute!!! I mean, literally, I think he is like THE HANDSOMEST KID AROUND!!! Plus the kid is PRACTICALLY like a son, MINUS the financial responsibility...bahahahahaaa...I'm like, OMW O YOU ARE JUUUUUUUUST SOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!! YOUR ADORABLE!!!! 

Annnnnnnnnnnd as soon as I said that, I REALIZED WHO THE WEIRDO WAS that lady from the weight loss center, FONDLY, reminded me of....

ME!!!!

I was the CRAZY WEIRDO she reminded me of!!!! 

I'm liiiiiiike, OOOOOOOOh yeah...that's WHO!!!!

 I LOOOOVE the fact that I couldn't place WHO they remindinded me of, buuuuuuuut, it was someone I felt FONDNESS TOO!!! AHAHAHAAA!!!! Even though I thought she was crazy for gushing over me like that, I CAN SOOOOOOOOO see MYSELF doing that to someone when I am in my 60's!!! (Or maybe RIGHT now!!!;)

Have you everrrrr heard of...???

As i've told you all before, I'm not really a museum person-it's just not my thang! I mean, there's a few occasions i've been impressed and I still really want to see the Seattle glass museum, buuuuuuuuut other than that, my favorite part of a museum is usually THE GIFT SHOP!!! Hee, hee!;)

Selfies?! I THINK NOT!!!

Everyone always says I take a lot of selfies, BUUUUUUUUUUUT...I was thinking about it the other day and I had an amazing MARY THOUGHT!!! I came to the conclusion, that contrary to popular belief,  I ACTUALLY do NOT take a lot of selfies!!! Whenever I am at an event or we go to some national park or monument with my family or friends, I courteously offer, before we take a group picture, to take a picture of each family unit on their own. My brother and his wife and kids, my sister and her kids, my friends and their spouse and kids and everyone asks me if I want my own pic that they'll take... YOU KNOW WHY???

 .

BECAUSE, I'm my own family unit!!!! I am THE ONLY PERSON in my own family unit!!!! Therefore, every time I take a picture of myself, I'm actually taking a FAMILY PICTURE!!! Once I get married the selfies will END be much, much less!!! ;)

 I THINK NOT!!! Let's get politically correct: if your single and you take pictures of yourself, the politically correct thing to say is NOT  selfies, it's family portraits...remember that guys...we live in a politically correct world lets not be sooooo negative!!! ;)))

So for a fun little hobby, I write reviews on Yelp for places because I love exploring restaurants, festivals and anything new!!! Soooooo I'm super excited because I got nominated by Yelp for something special...

I made it to yelp elite status...

 without actually trying I'm in!!! 

Sooooooooo normally people nominate themselves to become YELP ELITE, buuuuut I had noticed that the reviewers that were YELP ELITE had like 100's, some even 1000's of reviews written and I only had like 35ish written so I was like, oh there's no way I have enough written yet!!! Buuuuut I was contacted and notified by the yelp community manager about being nominated and if I would accept!!!

They said I was chosen because they noticed in my reviews all of my descriptive words, my humor,  my tip-giving advice, my details, that I was informative,  and gave constructive honesty, also my enthusiasm and succulent pictures!!! I wasn't even trying to become YELP ELITE, I was just being ME and having fun while going on food adventures and exploring my city!!!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???

This means I get a special badge in my profile and invites to free events to test new restaurants, see exhibits, festivals, museums and stuff!!!  Annnnnnnd for some events, which are complimentary, I'll be able to RSVP with one guest!!! I'm sooooo stoked!!!
