I couldn't fathom living life without you Mom, buuuuuuuuut I can, BECAUSE you told me about THE ONE you went to!!! Because HE LIVES, I have a reason to live!!! Need a friend???

My mom testified at church one time, and she shared something that I had NEVER heard before!!! It was soooo neat I just have to share it with you all!!!

She said that when we lived in New York, before we got in church, one of the things that prompted her to EVEN go to church at all, was that she was looking for a friend. She said that although there were people our family associated with, she didn't feel like she really had her own friend.

.

She was hoping for someone that she could do stuff with or just talk with on the phone! So when the Kathy, the lady across the street from us, invited my mom to church, one of the things that prompted her to go was she thought..."Maybe if I go, I'll find a FRIEND!!!"

.

She said that there were a lot of people that she met at church that she enjoyed fellowship with, BUT she said the friend she got, wasn't THE FRIEND she had been looking for. She said that when she got the Holy Ghost, she got a friend that has NEVER left her side. We were only at that church for nine months before we moved to AZ, she left behind her friends at that church, BUT Jesus, came right along with her!!! All her life long till she died she had Jesus, and she said that Jesus is STILL the best friend she has ever had!!!

What is the best advice you were ever given???

That's a very good question, thank you for asking me!!! The best advice I've ever been given was from my mom and it was simply this:

She'd say, Mary, there's an old saying that says, you can't make all of the people, happy all the time. She'd always tell me this when I was trying to be a people-pleaser, WHICH SHE WAS NOT, then she'd say, you know what that means? What Mom??? It means...

"You can't make everyone happy,

 so just live to make GOD happy!!!"

Happy Birthday MOM!!!

We had a remembrance dinner in honor of my mom last Tuesday, ate her favorite pastas, fussili and Aye-UH-OY....(No idea how to spell that last one so I just wrote it like it sounds...LOL) her birthday was the next day! She died 2 days before her 63rd birthday, probably her best birthday everrrrrr!!! There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about her or miss her, but I'm glad she made it to the end!!! Sometimes I think I look like my mom, even tho I know I don't really, buuuut sometimes I like to think I do!!! She tells this story of when we first moved from NYC and people at our church asked her how they let her adopt the 2 little blue-eyed kids! Cuz you know back in the day skin color-matching was a kinda bigger deal in adoptions) And my mom was like, what?! THESE ARE MY BABIES!!! Always your lil Vanilla-glitter-ball-O-FLUFF mommy pooh!!!

When I worship...

If  you knew my mom, you know that she was a WORHSHIPPER!!! If you didn't know my mom, let me tell you something, SHE WAS A WORSHIPPER!!! She worshipped with all her heart and soul. She was loud and she had her tambourine and she shook that thing with all her might! I can still hear her in my mind, Amen-ing and Hallaugh-ing!!! 

My mom worshipped with everything that was in her, buuuuuuuuuuut, my mom had physical limitations that kept her from fully worshipping God the way she wholly wanted too! My mom couldn't run the aisles, she couldn't dance in the spirit or jump for joy the way I KNOW she wanted too...She had LIMITATIONS...

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...

Sometimes when I start worshipping God, I start worshipping Him, the way I KNOW my mom ALWAYS WANTED to be able to worship God, ANNNNNNND the way I KNOW she can worship Him NOW!!! She had her physical limitations down here,

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...
BUT NOW, she's up there, OUT WORSHIPPING ALL OF US!!!

Do you have a loved one that's on the other side??? Next time your worshipping God, worship Him like you know they are worshipping God now that they have made it to heaven and are in His presence!!! You'll neverrrrr be able to out worship them while your here on earth, buuuuuuut YOU CAN GIVE IT ALL YOU'VE GOT!!! You can try!!! God is worthy!!! There is coming a day WITHOUT PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS!!! Let's practice NOW for that day!!!

How to be SMART!!!

I was just going through old drafts of blog posts that I've never written, just thoughts that I save in a draft for a later time, this was one that I found from quite a few years ago, its such a good thought, I had completely forgotten it but thought NOW would be a good time to post it...

Ever wish you were one of those people that other people viewed as SMART???

My mom said something last week that I just HAD TO BLOG ABOUT!!! She was talking about how  if you do NOT submit to your pastor, you will NOT truly submit to GOD. The she said, "I have no fear of man, my fear is of GOD!!! I don't submit because I fear man, but because I fear God!!!" You know that really stuck out to me, because IF YOU KNOW MY MOM, you know just HOW TRUE this statement is!!! My mom, is INTIMIDATED BY NO ONE!!! (except God!) LOLOLOL However, she submits, because she FEARS GOD!!!

.

The Bible says that THE FEAR OF GOD, is the BEGINNING OF WISDOM!!! I really have to wonder sometimes about people's actions, DON'T YOU FEAR GOD??? I don't care what MAN thinks, buuuuut I DO CARE what GOD THINKS!!!

IF you want to be a person of knowledge, THE FIRST thing you need to learn is TO FEAR GOD!!!

So the other day, one of the grandmas at our church was telling me about when her oldest granddaughter, Kensie, who is now in my class, was in my mom mom's class.

Looking For A Friend???

Happy Birthday MOM!!!

In honor of my moms birthday, i hiked a really big, BIG MOUNTAIN today you guys!!!

I know I go hiking just about everyday, it's my form of excercise that I greatly enjoy, buuuuuut in honor of my mom I wanted to go above and beyond my usual hike!!! last time I did this one was in October and it took me 2.5 hrs to get up, today it only took me 1.5!!! an hour less...big improvement!! A grand total, with going up and down, breaks annnnnnnd talking to people, YES I LOVE TO TALK TO EVERYONE, you do not walk by MARY, without a greeting, hee, hee, for a grand total of 3 hrs! It was a lot easier I must say!!! I was hiking and in my head I was like, OH it's going to be SOOOOOO much longer till I get to the top, then these ladies were coming down and we greeted each other and they were like, OH your doing great, not to much longer and you'll be to the top! I was like, WHAAAAAT??? I haven 't even been hiking that long this time...I was pretty SIKED!!!

.

At the top of the mountain, I found a guy to take pics of me...hee, hee, And I was like, SOOOOO EXCITED telling him about how the last time I had done this mountain was back in October and that it took me 2.5 hrs and that today it only took me 1.5 to get to the top! He was like, WOW, you've lost a HOUR, that's AWESOME!!! Then I asked him if he's ever hiked Camelback Mountain? He said he had, so I asked him how much harder that hike was than this one, and he said it WAS harder buuuuuuut he thought I would definitely be able to do it!!! He was like, If you could do this mountain, you can CRUSH CAMELBACK!!! He said that its just LONGER, but the ability level is basically the same!

Anywayz, happy birthday MOM, my birthday present to you, I'M GETTING HEALTHY, just what you always wanted!!! Looooooove you mommy poo!!! PURRRRRRRRRR!!!

Another reminder...

As my mom was getting sicker and weaker in her body, I knew that her time with us was limited and that she would soon be leaving us. Other than being absolutely devastated that I would be losing my beloved mother, there was this burning desire to know, beyond a doubt that my mom was truly ready for heaven. Now I know people reading this are probably thinking, HOW could you even question it???

.

BUT my mom was THE FIRST PERSON to always say, you never TRULY KNOW what is in a person's heart, ONLY GOD DOES!!! I know that my mom would NOT have been mad or hurt by my wondering. In fact, BECAUSE of God showing me she was ready, I was even able to reassure her that she was indeed ready to meet her creator!!!

.

In desperation, I begged and pleaded and cried out to God to show me that she was indeed ready to meet Him. There were several incidents that happened BEFORE she died that let me know that INDEED she was ready to meet her savior face to face, I will share those moments with you in another time...

.

Today I want to share with you all a scripture I noticed in our Sunday morning Bible reading at church...

Psalm 92

Just another reminder to to me, that my mom TRULY was a righteous woman of God!!! For it was just a year or so before she died that her witness got through to Bro. Earl, an elderly man in our church!!! Seeing this scripture on Sunday was just another answer to the prayer I had prayed before her death!!! How awesome is it, that even now, God would give me AGAIN that reassurance that she was right with him!!! I'm Thanking God TODAY for yet another reminder!!! Thank you Jesus for truly caring about the fears and hurts of your people!!!

When I felt like an adult!!!!

Soooooooo there's this Christian radio station that I like to listen to in my car, weeeeeellll pretty much cuz the CD player is BROKEN...surprise, surprise, LOL!!! Anywayz, they'll like ask these random questions in the afternoon and have listeners call in with their answers in between songs!

One day, the question was, WHEN did you FIRST feel like an adult??? And I remember sitting there in the car, in my early 30's and thinking,

HONESTLY, I STILL DON'T!!!

You know, when kids come to you, your just like, REALLY???

OR THIS...

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Soooooo ME!!! ;))))

I don't know why I felt that way! I'm moved out, I work, I drive, I pay bills, I travel by myself...I don't even have a curfew...buuuuut I STILL don't feel like an adult!!! However, recently, with my mom's death, it hit me, I think I ACTUALLY feel like an adult now. I'm not sure WHY, perhaps its just because it hit me, I'm doing this, I'm DOING what my mom wanted me to do, BUT without her! I wish I wasn't doing this WITHOUT her, buuuuut I AM, because she prepared me so well to be able to!!!

I'm going to church, i'm living for GOD, WITHOUT HER!!! IT's what she always wanted me to do, AND I was doing, but the difference is that I could stop now and she would never know! I would never have to worry about her being saddened or disappointed in my decision...buuuuuuuuuuut THIS IS MY DECISION!!! This IS the life I CHOOSE TO LIVE!!! NOT because I HAVE to! NOT because I don't want to disappoint or please anyone! BUT because THIS is the life I WANT TO LIVE!!! I always said it before, AND TRULY MEANT IT!!! Buuuuuuuuuut NOW IT'S REAL...annnnnd soooo NOW for the first time I can say that...

I feel like an ADULT!!

Sooooooo it basically feels the same...BAHAHA!!!!

Okaaaaaaaaaaaay we ALL know that I'll always be an ADULT CHILD, buuuuuut Heeeeeeey I AM A CHILD OF GOD and I'll NEVER be to adulty for that!!! Hee, hee!!!

I saw this shirt the other day and was like, Oooooh I NEED THAT!!! LOL

It reminded me of a question my mom asked me when she was kind of loopy from not having her dialysis, one of the nights before falling asleep she stopped me and asked me a question that SHE FELT was a VERY IMPORTANT!!!

I was like, UH, noooooo mom!!! She's like, OK GOOD!!! I was going to have a talk with you if you did!!! AHAHAHAHA!!! Only two thoughts came to my mind AFTER she asked that!!!

Mom's Favorite!!!

Soooooo everyone in our family has ALWAYS said that my brother John is my mom's favorite, EXCEPT FOR ME!!! I've always figured deep down inside that I MUST BE EVERYONE'S FAVORITE!!!

Well I had this dream that my mom was talking to us all and she was like, SOOOOOO do you want to know WHO REALLY WAS MY FAVORITE??? Soooooo we're all like YES!!!

So in the dream my mom is like, MY FAVORITE WAS...annnnd there was a pause, and in my mind I just knew for sure that she was going to say MARY!!! She was like, JOHN!!! Everyone was like, I KNEW IT! TOLD YOU SO!!! WE ALWAYS KNEW IT!!!

Annnnnnnnnnd I was just standing there SHOCKED, mouth hanging open!!! I just could NOT believe that I wasn't my mom's FAVORITE!!! Even after hearing her say it in the dream, I still didn't believe it!!!

Letter from mom!!!

Soooooooooo last week was kind of a hard week for me with missing my mom, its just like that, some weeks are harder than others and last week was especially hard. And I prayed about it and asked God for specific help...

.

Annnnnnnd LO AND BEHOLD, last Friday night when I came home from a babysitting job, there was an envelope laying on my bed with my name written on it...IT WAS...A letter FROM MY MOM!!! 💌

Annnnnnd NO, she did NOT write me a letter from heaven, LOL, It was written in 2008!!! Buuuuuuuuut we never knew about them and she never told us that she had written them and they mysteriously showed up on her bed amongst some other papers, sealed and waiting for us!!!

.

The letter was exactly what I needed at that very moment!!! She told me I was her butterfly, (She always said that about me, EVEN THO I won't let a butterfly ACTUALLY touch me, cuz they're a BUG!!!) She said I was her baby for a little while and that I always loved playing with my baby dolls, then I became her middle child AND I STILL liked playing with my baby dolls. She told me to never stop walking in this truth, and that she admired my love for people and she ended it by saying to never stop bringing in the harvest, God is always looking for laborers.

.

The letter was on point and exactly what I needed!!! I'm sooooo thankful for a God that looks out for His children. None of us know WHEN or HOW those letters got on my mom's bed, for we have been in there many times since she died and there was never any letters on her bed, but the other day my sister found them!!! I just imagine God hearing my prayer, going in there. digging through my mom's stuff and laying them on her bed for us. It was a blessing that I will treasure forever and something I will reread in for future encouragement!!! Thank you JESUS!!!! Purrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Mom's treasure box!!!

Recently I found something that I absolutely adore in my mom's room...

HER TREASURE BOX!!!

I remember when I was a little girl, any chance I had to look in her treasure box, I would. Sometimes I would offer to dust her room, and take extra time on her dresser, just for a peep in the treasure box. Other times I would just sneak in her room when I knew she was to busy to find me. Her treasure box was filled with all sorts of little trinkets, it was just so interesting to me, and I would think, when I grow up, I'm going to have a treasure box, JUST LIKE MY MOM'S!!!

.

As I was going through her treasure box now as an adult, I realized that most of her treasures would have no value to anyone else...

Memoirs from her childhood family, travel trinkets, little things to remind her family and things she accomplished...

Buuuuuuuut almost EVERYTHING I found in that little treasure box had to do with family, her children. I remember when God gave my mom the vision of heaven, she was in such absolute awe of what she saw, there was such a longing n her heart to leave this world behind her and go to what she had seen, and YET, I remember her also breaking down and crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she said she wanted to so badly to go to heaven, but she didn't want to leave us...We were THE ONLY THING that she longed to hold on to, the only thing that caused her to hesitate...

WE WERE HER TREASURE!!!

Recently, out of curiosity I was researching about a certain religion that highly values motherhood. Upon my research, I came across the writings of a disgruntled ex-member of this religion. Now, I don't personally agree with a lot of the teachings, because they do no follow what the Bible says, I DO AGREE on their take on motherhood, however, this previous member did NOT!!! He said, my sister is SO SMART, she COULD HAVE been ANYTHING, but instead of pursuing a career, SHE IS JUST A MOM!!! When I read that, I just thought, WOW!!! It blows my mind that anyone could say something like that!

I am SO GREATFUL for a mom that put MOTHERHOOD over her CAREER, we weren't just a check on her bucket list, she TREASURED US!!! My mom knew the secret of THE ONLY things you can take with you to heaven, SOULS!!! Truly we were THE ONLY treasures she wanted to take with her!!!

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)

Dream about MOM!!!

I had THE FUNNIEST dream about my mom the other day!!! In the dream she was alive, well this happens A LOT in my dreams, BUUUUUT she was alive and I was like, MOM, I thought you died! And she was like, no! I'm like, we even had you creamated! She's like, Uh huh! That's what they want you to think so they can get your money!!!! Ask them what the ashes REALLY are!!! She's all, you know what YOU SHOULD DO, is take those "ASHES" you paid for and tell them you want a REFUND!!!

Seriousley, that is sooooooo a MOMMISH dream!!! She was ALWAYS having me return stuff to the store for, even toilet paper once, she was like, Mary, I was looking at the receipt that is THE MOST EXPENSIVE toilet paper, return it!!!  AHAHAHA!!! I'm sure IF it were possible, my mom WOULD have me get a refund on her creamation!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That was a funny dream!!! I LOOOOOOVE MY MOM!!!

God's a legalist!!! LOL

I was just thinking about ANOTHER HILARIOUS story with my mom. So the last two years of my mom's life she was bed ridden so this left her A LOT free time. One of the things she did to keep herself from being sooooo bored was joined FACEBOOK!!! For someone that is as opinionated and unafraid to speak her mind as my mother, this was BAD.IDEA!!! AHAHAHA!!!

.

Well one day she was on the Focus On The Family page and they posted something that she didn't agree with concerning standards of holiness, SOOOO SHE SPOKE HER MIND!!! My mom very quickly told them EXACTLEY WHAT THE BIBLE had to say on the matter. Weeeeeellll of course most people did NOT like hearing this, even tho it was CLEARLY backed up with the Bible.

.

Sooooooooo people start commenting back at my mom, saying stuff like, she was being judgemental, that's all legalism and your a legalist, blah, blah, blah!!! Without missing a beat, totally undaunted by their accusations, my wrote back and says,

"Well, if I'M A LEGALIST,

Then I guess God is too,

BECAUSE HE'S THE

ONE THAT SAID IT!!!"

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I sooooooo LOVE MY MOM!!! She's AWESOME!!! Just sooooo AWESOME!!!

To be like JESUS...

One day, while in the hospital during my mom's last few weeks of life, I had a very thought provoking thing go through my mind. During this time, I had gotten used to helping take care of my mom in whatever way I possibly could...

 

Anything from just getting her something that she couldn't reach, brushing her hair and sometimes sponge bathing. Now you have to understand, I'm NOT exactly the "Nurse" type of person, I'm known for gagging at just about anything to with the human body. But this was my mom whom I love dearly and by this time I'd gotten used to it, and you would be surprised at the grace God will give you to do something that you never planned on or saw yourself doing.

.

So one night, before going to sleep, I was rubbing lotion on my mom's feet and I thought to myself, I'm being like Jesus!!! WOW! So this is what its like to be a servant, to be Christ like. And just when I was really starting to feel good about my spirit of servitude,  God put another thought in my mind...

.

No, not quite Mary,

 because IF you were like ME,

you'd be doing this for your enemy.

BAM!!!

OH HOW FAR WE TRUELY HAVE TO GO...

TO BE LIKE JESUS!!!

 

Think about it, it's one thing to be a servant to someone that you love and adore, but it's a completely different thing to be able to be a servant to a stranger, to someone that has done you wrong, to your enemy,  to someone that despises you, yet, Jesus was willing to do that for us.

Oh TO BE LIKE JESUS!!!

.

Just when we think we're getting it, God shows us HOW FAR we really are from being like Him. And yet, it's the desire of my heart, TO BE LIKE HIM!!! Although I know I am human, I know that I'll never reach perfection, I'll never be able to be  completely like Him, until I breath my last breath, I will continue striving more and more, TO BE LIKE HIM!!!

WOW MOM, WOW!!! LOL The ONLY THING you NEVER BELIEVED IN ME FOR WAS MY DRIVING...and now look at me Mom, four years into driving and I have NO IDEA WHY YOU WERE SOOOO WORRIED ABOUT IT!!!;)))

Mom, I remember how you would NEVERRRR put any Christian bumper stickers on your car, BECAUSE, you didn't want to be a bad witness for Jesus when you gave other drivers THE LOSER SIGN for their bad driving skills!!!! Only YOU MOM, ONLY YOU!!! AHAHAHAHA!!!

Mom, I remember when someone threw a rock through our brother's car window, you asked the police if they could dust the rock they threw the window, for fingerprints and when they said no, you said, WELL THEY COULD IN THE HARDY BOYS!!!

Its weird how we are so different, yet in some ways so alike...You were always simple in your dress, we all know I love fancy, yet I remember when you told me that the flowers I always wear in my hair I got from you, you used to do the same thing! We are both out going, yet I could never take charge of a large group like you could, Ahem, for example, a few weeks ago they left me for ten minutes with the Bible class to play a game with the kids, it was OUT OF CONTROL MOM, the game turned into a mosh pit, I couldn't scream loud enough to get control of them, yet all you had to do was those BUG EYES, We both knew we were all that and a bag of chips, We're both creative but in completely different ways, I cant draw a decent looking stick figure, you could turn an oatmeal box into a masterpiece of art, mine just looks like an OATMEAL BOX, my creativity is through stories and words and cute clothes, hee, hee!!!

I remember all the family trips you took us on growing up, you scrimped and saved and took us everywhere you could...

 

 

And look at you mom, your kidneys were failing you and you still died with only a few gray hairs and no wrinkles, your so beautiful...

ANNNNNNNNNNNNNND of course we all know the worlds greatest cook!!!

Yes, REALLY, all that food at one big family dinner...WOW!!!

We all miss you SOOOOOOOO MUCH MOM!!! Thank you for everything you taught me, thank you for everything you sacrificed, thank you for telling me about Jesus!!! Thank you for instilling in me the value, the worth, the treasure of motherhood, because of YOU, its still my greatest dream in this life to achieve motherhood!!! I love you mom, I LOVE YOU!!! Purrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
